Work In Progress Project

Progress 2.jpg

Untitled Stop-Motion Landscape Project

For this project, I wanted to create a scene that showcases my proficiency with fabricating landscapes. While this project is a work in progress, I will be updating it regularly!

Current Progress

I began with a simple sketch that allowed me to establish the composition. I then uploaded this file into Dragonframe 2026 and, using the sketch as an overlay, I created mock-ups out of cardboard to establish scale and perspective. I am now working on fabricating assets based on the mock-ups. Keep scrolling for asset process pictures!

I tested several materials for the tree bark texture, including water clay, paper clay, and papier-mâché.

Once R&D was done, I fabricated the final trees out of scored cardboard, with the branches made out of twisted armature wire. To get the proper tree form and texture, I used a combination of papier-mâché and paper clay.

Trees were painted with a pneumatic spray gun then dry brushed with a highlight color!

Initially, the plan was to create grass forms out of styrene, however I scrapped this idea due to cost and a lack time.
Instead, I scoured my local crafts store, eventually finding fake ferns that could be sliced in half, glued together, and used to create grass.
